Canisius Rallies For 13-11 Win Over Manhattan

Cansius opened the fourth quarter with four-straight scores to rally for a 13-11 win over Manhattan at Demske Sports Complex.

The Golden Griffins improve to 3-4 and 2-2 in the MAAC while the Jaspers fall to 2-10 and 0-3 in the league.

Canisius opened the game with a vengeance in jumping out to an early 7-3 advantage, before senior Nick Strano (Rocky Point, NY / Rocky Point) quelled the run with just two seconds to play in the first stanza.

Strano's goal ignited a 5-0 Manhattan spurt that spanned the first three quarters and gave the visitors their first lead of the game at 8-7 with 10:30 to play in the third.

In the run, five different Jaspers scored with Parker Giarratana (Fr., Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community), Alex Abiog (Jr., Saratoga, CA / Bellarmine College Prep), Cole Johnson (Fr., Dexter, NY / General Brown) and Nick Stutler (Jr., Ft. Wright, KY / Covington Catholic) also finding the back of the net.

The Golden Griffins would tie it up less than two minutes later with the teams then trading goals with as the Jaspers assumed a 10-9 lead after three quarters thanks to Johnson's second goal of the game off a pass from sophomore Conor Darby (Havermill, MA / Assumption).

Unfortunately, Canisius opened the fourth quarter with four-straight scores en route to rallying for the aforementioned 13-11 victory..

Giarratana paced an offense that saw seven different players find the back of the net, finishing up with three goals and an assist.

Sophomore Michael Zingaro (Cortlandt Manor, NY / Walter Panas) made 13 saves, including six in a scorless second quarter, between the pipes.

Nick Tuttle led the Golden Griffins with four goals while Jeff Edwards added three goals and four assists.

Manhattan returns to action on Saturday, April 16 at Marist with opening face-off slated for 1:00 pm.
