Baltimore, MD - Morgan State topped Manhattan 85-82 in a double-overtime thriller at the Hill Field House, despite a career-high matching 23 points and nine rebounds from junior Zane Waterman (Winston-Salem, NC / Fayetteville Academy).

The Bears improve to 3-6 while the Jaspers fall to 2-7.

With just under four seconds to play in the second half, junior Thomas Capuano (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY / Iona Prep) hit what appeared to be the winning three pointer. Unfortunately, his triple was answered when Tiwian Kendley hit a running three of his own to tie it up at 67-67 and force extra time.

In the first overtime, Morgan State held a late two-point lead when junior Calvin Crawford picked off a pass and slammed it home to tie the game up at 76-76 with 13 seconds to play before each team misfired on potential game-winning opportunities.

The teams would play the second overtime to a standstill over the first 4:44 before Stanley Davis split a pair from the line. The Bears then stopped Manhattan on the ensuing possession and Kendley sank two free throws to clinch the game.

Capuano added a career-high 18 points, on 7-of-11 shooting, with five rebounds, four assists and four steals while Crawford added 15 points and freshman Aaron Walker Jr. (Brooklyn, NY / Cardozo) chipped in with 12 points, five assists and two steals to round out the double-figure scorers for the Jaspers.

In the first half, Manhattan was able to fight back from an early 10-point deficit to take a 35-34 lead at the break thanks to making good on 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the field.

After halftime, the Jaspers used an 11-1 run thanks to contributions from four different players in taking their biggest lead of the game at 54-44 with 10:24 to play.

Fueled by pressuring the visitors into foul trouble, Morgan State was able to methodically claw its way back into the game and force overtime thanks to going 13-for-15 over the final 10-plus minutes of regulation.

Thanks to the play of Waterman and Crawford, Manhattan owned a dominating 52-18 advantage on points in the paint while handing out a season-high 19 assists. The Jaspers also shot 50.0 percent (35-of-70) from the field, but made good on just 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from long range.

Kendley led Morgan State with 40 points to go along with 10 rebounds while Phillip Carr had 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Manhatatn will next be in action when it hosts Fordham in the annual "Battle of the Bronx" on Saturday, December 10 at 7:00 pm.
