Riverdale, NY - Senior Sam Washuk (Milford, CT / Joseph A. Foran) scored off classmate Colleen Kavanagh's (Rockville Centre, NY / Sacred Heart Academy) corner kick in the 66th minute to lift Manhattan to a 1-0 win over Siena at Gaelic Park.

Spurred on by senior Kristen Skonieczny's (Lagrangeville, NY / Arlington) season-high seven saves, the Jaspers improved to 6-3 and 2-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) while the Saints fall to 5-3-2 and 1-1 in the league.

Siena dominated the action for most of the afternoon and owned advantages in shots (17-5), shots on goal (7-2) and corner kicks (9-4).

While the Saints had the lion's share of opportunities, it was the Manhattan defense that was the story of the game as the visitors failed to get a shot on goal off of any of its nine corner kicks.

In the first half, Skonieczny set the tone while denying Siena on arguably its best two scoring opportunities of the match. She made a diving save on Madison Vazquez's shot in the 30th minute before registering another impressive stop just four minutes later.

Skonieczny (5-2-0) has now posted four shutouts while allowing just three goals on the year.

Manhattan returns to action on Wednesday, September 30 at Fairfield with opening kick at 7:00 pm.
