WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth scored eight-straight goals en route to posting a 14-5 win over Manhattan in the teams' regular season finale.
The Hawks improve to 6-7 and 3-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) while clinching a conference playoff berth as the Jaspers conclude the season with a 1-14 record and a 0-6 mark in the league.
In defeat, senior Marcel Godino (Summit, N.J. / Summit) notched two goals with one assist to lead the way for Manhattan in his final collegiate game. Classmate Andrew Hurst (Babylon, N.Y. / Babylon) added one goal and an assist to cap the mutli-point performers for the Jaspers. Freshman Andrew Gresham (Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada / Pitt Meadows Secondary) and junior Nick Strano (Rocky Point, N.Y. / Rocky Point) recorded one goal each for the visitors.
Sophomore Jonathan Cottrell (Homer, N.Y. / Homer) made seven saves in goal for Manhattan.
Ryan Schwartz notched a hat trick to pace an attack that saw nine different Monmouth players find the back of the net.
The Jaspers return 29 letterwinners in 2016.
