BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Canisius Golden Griffs scored the first eight goals of the game en route to an 18-8 win over the Jaspers on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Manhattan falls to 2-11 overall, and 0-5 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.

Canisius entered the day with four players ranked in the top ten in the conference in goal scoring, and all of them did damage in today's contest. Ashley Bull and Maria Kotas netted two goals apiece on the Golden Griffs' 8-0 opening run. Bull now has 22 goals on the season, and Kotas has a conference-leading 41 tallies.

The Golden Griffs offense was very balanced, as 11 players accounted for the team's 18 goals. Taylor Giglio scored twice in each half and also recorded three assists to register a game-high seven points on the afternoon. Tori Quinn had a game-high six ground balls and also netted a hat trick for Canisius.

Manhattan's first goal came courtesy of junior Donna Jo DiNorcia, 14:22 into the opening stanza. Senior Kelsey Rehain was the only other Jasper to score in the opening 30 minutes. Both DiNorcia and Rehain scored hat tricks in the game. Junior Domenica O'Brey was the only other Manhattan player to score in the game, as she netted twice in the second half.

Junior starting goalkeeper Christina Fiorinelli stood strong in cage for the Jaspers, stopping 15 shots in the game.

The Golden Griffs outshot the Jaspers 44-20 and controlled 18-27 (66%) draws on the afternoon.

Manhattan will return to action on Wednesday, April 16, when the team takes the trip to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to battle the Marist Red Foxes in a MAAC contest. The opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
