RIVERDALE
, N.Y. - The Manhattan women's soccer team used sophomore forward Martine Diamond's second goal of the weekend to earn a 1-1 tie at Wagner (5-1-2) on Sunday. Jaspers' junior goalkeeper Kara Davis recorded six saves over 110 minutes of action to help Manhattan (1-4-1) secure its first draw of the season.

Diamond tested Wagner goalkeeper Lisa Capelli early and capitalized with her third career goal in the 25th minute. Capelli was able to come up with a save on her first attempt, but Diamond managed to track down the rebound and pushed it in to give Manhattan a 1-0 advantage.

Diamond led all players with eight shot attempts in the match. Capelli gave Wagner a complete game effort between the pipes and finished with eight saves on the afternoon.

The Seahawks managed to quickly erase the deficit less than five minutes later with the goal coming off the foot of forward Jackie Nicholas. At the 29:07 mark, Nicolas handled a feed from fellow Seahawks' forward Julie Vigliotti and found the back of the net from 10 yards out.

Manhattan and Wagner battled though an even second half with the Jaspers holding the slight edge in shot attempts, 7-6. The Jaspers came out firing in the first overtime forcing Capelli to come up with two key saves on four shots over a six minute span. Manhattan senior forward Megan Lavecchia had her shot saved in the 92nd minute, and then in the 94th minute Capelli stopped another potential game winner from Jaspers' sophomore forward Janie Schlauder.

Both defenses held strong in the second overtime to preserve the tie. Davis made her final save just before the final buzzer to send Manhattan out of Staten Island with the draw.

Manhattan returns to action on Wednesday when the Jaspers host Albany at Gaelic Park. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
