Manhattan Loses Fourth Straight in Meet Versus Iona

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Following a disappointing weekend at Mount Saint Mary's the Manhattan Jaspers women's swim squad was unable to rebound in a 111-135 loss to the Iona Gaels at Riverdale Country Day School on Friday night.

The lone bright spot of the meet came in the 200 butterfly event. Senior Bridget Latino dominated the field finishing with a 2:15.70 mark, a full 15 seconds faster than her closest competitor. Latino also took home a first place finish in the 100 meter freestyle with a 1:01.45 finish. Her victories were the only first place finishes the Jaspers would have in the 14 total events.

The loss is the fourth straight for the Jaspers and the fifth in their last six meets. Manhattan did begin the season with consecutive victories over Marywood and Mount Saint Vincent's.

Manhattan (3-5) will return to action on Sat., Nov. 5 when they host Bridgeport at 2 p.m. at Riverdale Country School. The match is a part of the first ever Alumni meet for the Jaspers which will include a friendly meet between past and present swimmers as well as a dinner immediately after.
