RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan College Women's swimming team will be hoping for better luck in the pool than their most recent meets with Hunter, Wagner and Fairfield.
The Jaspers hosted both Hunter and Wagner on Fri., Nov. 11 at Riverdale Country Day School falling to Hunter by a score of 80-15 while dropping a 67-28 decision to Wagner.
There were some highlights from the meet however as Molly Russell posted the fastest time for a Manhattan College swimmer this season in both the 500 and 1000 meter freestyles finishing third in the 500 with a time of 5:49.23 and second in the 1000 with an 11:52.14 time.
Bridget Latino continued her solid senior season with a victory in the 200 meter freestyle (2:03.54) and the 200 butterfly (2:15.32). The two losses dropped the Jaspers to 4-7 on the season.
Saturday welcomed in the Fairfield Stags for a meet that again was too difficult for the Jaspers. Manhattan found just three individual winners throughout the meet in what ended up being a 134.5-69.5 loss. Latino was able to find another victory in the 100 meter butterfly while teammates Vanessa L'Heureux (200 Individual Medley) and Kerry Schuermann (100 backstroke) also finished first in their events.
This weekend, Manhattan (4-8) will host Baruch on Fri., Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. before facing off against St. Francis (NY) at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Riverdale Country Day School.
After this weekend, the Jaspers will have almost two weeks off for the holiday break before returning to action against Saint Peter's and Montclair State on Fri., Dec. 9 in Jersey City, N.J.
