The Manhattan College women's lacrosse team fell Sunday afternoon to MAAC conference leader Fairfield University 15-7 in a game played at Fairfield.  Manhattan sophomore Chrissy Gutenberger again led the Manhattan goal scorers with four on the afternoon.

The win improved Fairfield's record to 10-4 overall and 4-0 in league play, while the Jaspers fall to 3-12 on the season and 0-4 in conference action.  This was also the Stags 16th consecutive regular season conference win.

Fairfield came out quickly scoring nine consecutive goals before Manhattan's Gutenberger tallied the Jaspers first goal of the game, with 2:35 to play in the first-half, to make the halftime score 9-1.

Gutenberger scored the opening goal of the second-half, making the score 9-2, but Fairfield answered with four consecutive goals to take a 14-2 lead, with 11:53 to play.  Gutenberger again ended the Stags run, which was answered by Kate McKinley, before Manhattan scored the final four goals of the game - one by Gutenberger, one by Helen Kerrisk and two by Caralyn Hickey.

 Fairfield's Kristen Coleman and Chloe Mangan both finished the game with four points, each netting three goals and handing out an assist. 

Defensively for Manhattan, Keri Morrison and Elizabeth Dugan had two caused turnovers each.  Kerrisk picked up five ground balls, while Dugan and Ashley McHale had four each.

For Fairfield, goalkeeper Katie Keenan made seven saves to earn the win in net for the Stags.  Kelley Brady played the final 17:25, with six saves.  Julie DiBernardo played the entire game in net for Manhattan, making nine saves.

Manhattan concludes the regular season next weekend, with a  7 p.m. game at Gaelic Park against Niagara University and a 10 a.m. game Sunday at Gaelic against Canisius College.  Sunday will be Senior Day when Manhattan's five seniors will be honored just prior to the game.
