RIVERDALE, N.Y. ? Manhattan junior Courtney McMahon scored her second goal of the season in the 10th minute, but Wagner midfielder Danielle Sheehan delivered the equalizer in the 82nd minute to force overtime and an eventual 1-1 tie this rainy afternoon in Staten Island. Manhattan (3-3-1) bombarded the Seahawks with 28 shots, placing 16 on goal.

The Lady Jaspers took a one goal edge early in the contest when McMahon accepted a pass from Caroline Morse, and blasted a shot from 15 yards out past Wagner goalkeeper Leslie Reed. Manhattan's defensive unit, anchored by Jill Beauchamp, Viviane Masters and Devon Lutz, preserved the lead and carried it into the half.

Reed collected 15 saves in the contest, while Lady Jaspers' goalkeeper Caitlin Trupiano recorded five.

Wagner (2-4-2) managed to rally back late in the second stanza when Sheehan got her squad on the scoreboard after connecting on a shot from 10 yards out. The play developed when the Seahawks' defensive pressure caused a turnover in front of the cage, setting up the goal.

Overtime proved to be a defensive stalemate as both squads failed to tally the game winner. The Lady Jaspers could not connect on five shot opportunities in the second session of sudden victory, allowing the match to end in a draw.

With the tie, Manhattan moves to 3-3-1 overall on the season. The Lady Jaspers return home on Monday for a match with local rival Columbia under the lights at Gaelic Park. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
