RIVERDALE, N.Y. ? Manhattan seniors Christine Reina and Brittany Duhamel combined for two second half goals, leading the Lady Jaspers to a 2-0 victory over Lafayette (0-4-2) this evening at Gaelic Park. Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Trupiano posted five saves and recorded her second shutout of the season. With the win, Manhattan improves to 3-1 on the year.

“This was our best overall performance of the year, with the exception of the Stony Brook match,” stated head coach Sean Driscoll. “We put forth a much better effort in the second half. I was pleased with our attitude; we had more fight.”

After a defensive battle over the first 45 minutes of the match, the Lady Jaspers' offense started clicking in the second stanza. In the 60^th minute, Reina connected on what proved to be the game winning goal, which marked her second of the season. Sophomore midfielder Michelle Miyaki settled a loose ball in the box, served a touch pass to Reina, who place a shot just inside the left post.

Duhamel added the Lady Jaspers' insurance goal in the 75^th minute when she sailed an arching shot over the head of Lafayette goalie Brittany Futterknecht and into the left side of the net. Devon Lutz, a freshman from Waterford, N.Y., assisted the goal.

Futterknecht collected seven saves over 90 minutes of work.

Manhattan bombarded the Leopards with 26 shots, nine were placed on goal. The Lady Jaspers' defensive unit limited Lafayette to just eight shot attempts.

Manhattan returns to action on Sunday for a match with cross-town rival Fordham. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Jack Coffey Field.
