Jersey City, N.J. (April 12, 2008) ? The Manhattan College Softball team split with MAAC opponent Saint Peter's College in a double header.  The Lady Jaspers took the first game 3-1 but fell 5-2 in the second game.  Lyndzie Phillips went 2-2 while driving in a run in the win for Manhattan.

 

In the first game, Manhattan struck in the top of the first after Kristina Walraven led off the game with a single.  After advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by Erika Sullivan, Phillips drove her in with a single to put the Lady J's ahead 1-0.  

 

The Peahens would answer right back as they scored in the bottom of the second to tie the game, 1-1.  But in the top of the third, Nicole Michel hit a sacrifice fly to put Manhattan in front, 2-1.  The Lady Jaspers would add another run in the top of the sixth inning off of an Amanda Genovese single to make it a 3-1 game.  The ladies defense held tough as the rolled on to a victory.

 

Sullivan pitched a compete game for Manhattan, letting in only one run off of six hits while striking out seven.  Michel finished the game 1-2 with her RBI as Genovese finished the game 1-3.

 

In the second game, Saint Peter's would be the one to score first as they put up three runs in the bottom of the second inning.  The Peahens would add two more in the fourth as the Lady Jaspers faced a 5-0 deficit.  Not to be counted out, Manhattan's Danielle Just drove in the only earned run of the game in the top of the fifth as Jaci Rahey scored on an error from the first baseman to make it a 5-2 game.

 

But the Lady Jaspers could not make a comeback as they would fall in the second game and split the series on the day.  

 

Michel went 2-3 in the second game, making her 3-5 on the day with one RBI.  Ashley Rampino also posted a 2-3 performance in the second game as she pitched 1.1 innings, giving up only two hits and letting in an unearned run. 

 

The Lady Jaspers will return home on Tuesday, April 15 to take on Albany State University in a doubleheader.  Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
