Staten Island, N.Y. (March 1, 2008) ? Manhattan College senior attacker Alicia Psillos netted five goals to lead the women's lacrosse team to a 13-9 win over Wagner at Wagner. The win moves the Lady Jaspers to a 2-1 record on the young season.

Lady Jasper freshman Tara Convery chipped in with a hat-trick, while sophomore Helen Kerrisk tallied two goals.  Freshman Julia Lavelle, sophomore Caralyn Hickey and freshman Phelicia Van Overbeke added one goal each.  Senior Emilia Ward had two assists, while Convery and Lavelle had one assist each.

It took a little over 12 minutes for either team to score its first goal, with Psillos finding the back of the net at 17:47.  But Wagner came back two minutes later to tie the score at 1-1.  But  Convery and Hickey scored two quick goals within a minute of each other to put the Lady Jaspers up 3-1.

Five minute later, Psillos scored again to put Manhattan ahead 4-1, but Wagner scored twice within the next three minutes to get back to within a goal at 4-3, but a goal by Kerrisk with just over a minute to go in the first half put the Lady J's up by two going into the locker room.

It didn't take long for Manhattan to go up by three as Van Overbeke scored 36 seconds into the second half.  But Wagner score just 30 second later to make the score 6-4. Five minutes then went by without a score until Kerrisk took a pass from Ward to make the score 7-4 at 23:04.  Less than a minute later, Convery scored to make it 8-4.

The two teams exchanged goals and then Psillos scored two goals in a row to make it 11-6.  Then the two teams exchanged goals again with Wagner never getting closer than three goals for the rest of the game.

The Lady Jaspers outshot Wagner 32-29 on the afternoon and Manhattan goalkeeper Allison Brown had 14 saves.
