Men's Cross Country Grabs Third Place at MAAC Cross Country Championships Held at Disney in Florida

Riverdale, N.Y. ? The Manhattan College men's cross country team grabbed third place in the MAAC Cross Country Championships held at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.  Jasper junior Milos Vuckovic led the Manhattan runners with an 13th place overall finish. Iona won the meet, making it 18 consecutive times the Gaels have won the men's MAAC crown.  All seven Jasper scorers set personal 8K course personal records.

 

Manhattan's Vuckovic traveled the 8K Disney course in 25:14.54.  The race winner, Iona's Mohamed Khadraoui won the race in 24.23.88.

 

Other scorers for Manhattan were:  Zack Price, who placed 34th overall in 26:3.01;Thomas Daly, who finished 36th in 26:43.29, Matt Kaftanski, who came in 40th overall in 26:50.53; Scott Roman, who placed 43rd in 26:53.09; Brendan Brethel, who finished 45th overall in 26:56.45; freshman Stephen Jochem, who placed 46th in 26:58.14.

 

"This was a very good team effort by a very young squad," said Dan Mecca, Manhattan's head coach for track and field and cross country. "With no seniors on the team in the MAAC race, we are looking forward to this team getting stronger and
improving on our placing each year."

Iona was followed in the team standings by Marist College, Manhattan, Loyola College, Rider University, Canisius College, Fairfield University, Niagara University, Siena College and Saint Peter's College.
