Riverdale, N.Y. ? The Manhattan College women's swimming team had a successful weekend, winning two meets ? 92 to 79 over Lehman College Saturday and 63-57 over New Jersey Institute of Technology on Sunday.
In the Lehman dual meet Saturday, Lady Jasper freshman Bridget Latino broke a 16-year-old school record in the 1000 meter freestyle, She won the race in 11:13.90, which broke the old record of 11:27.60.
In addition to Latino's record-breaking performance, senior Megan O'Keefe stood out in the meet, taking home three first place finishes. She won the 500 meter freestyle in 5:48.03; won the 200m freestyle event in 2:07.28 and was part of the winning 200m medley relay team that won in 2:01.52. Other members of than team were sophomore Rebecca Schwartz, sophomore Kayla Hutzler and junior Megan Goldrick.
Other Lady Jasper winners at the meet included junior Catherine Chan, who won the 50m freestyle swim in 26.25; Hutzler, who won the 200 individual medley in 2:25.35; Goldrick, who won the 100m backstroke in 10:14.00
Meanwhile, against NJIT Sunday, Latino broke another school record, this time in the 500 meter freestyle. She swam this race 5:29.87, breaking the old 1992 record of 5:31.58. She also won the 200m freestyle in 2:02.72 and was part of the 200 meter medley relay squad that also included Schwartz, Hutzler and Chan who swam that race in 2:02.53.
Hutzler was also a NJIT standout, winning the 200 individual medley in 2:28.69 and the 100m breaststroke in 1:16.64. Chan was also a multiple winner, taking the 50m free in 26.28 in addition to her relay win.
