Easton, Pa. (September 21, 2007)- Manhattan tallied two second half goals, with Christine Reina scoring the game winner, as the Lady Jaspers posted a 2-0 win over Lafayette College this evening at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.
Manhattan had the most scoring opportunities in the first 45 minutes, holding a 7-3 advantage in shots and forcing the Lafayette keeper to make four saves, while Alicia DeFino tallied just one stop in the opening half. Neither team found the back of the net, as the teams went into the break knotted at 0-0.
In the second half, the Leopards picked up the offensive pressure, but DeFino was up to the task each time, recording five of her six saves after the break.
The Lady Jaspers finally hit pay dirt as the clock struck one hour, as Kara Bucci fed the ball to Christine Reina, who found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Just over 15 minutes later, Courtney McMahon found Caroline Morse, who beat the Lafayette keeper to provide an important insurance goal.
