New Rochelle, N.Y. (April 13, 2006)- Alicia Psillos and Jenny Carman combined for 11 goals and six assists to lead Manhattan to a 20-9 MAAC win over Iona this afternoon at Mazzella Field. The Lady Jaspers improve to 5-6 on the season, 3-2 in MAAC play, while the Gaels fall to 4-9, 1-4 in MAAC play.

Psillos and Molly Pheterson hooked up three times in the first half, as Manhattan raced out to a 7-2 lead with 13 minutes left in the first half. Iona scored three of the final five goals of the first half to pull within four, 9-5, at the break.

The Gaels carried that momentum into the early part of the second stanza, recording four of the first six tallied to cut the deficit to just two, 11-9, with 14:11 left in the game.

At that point, however, the Lady Jaspers asserted themselves over the fledgling program, scoring the final nine goals of the game to pull away for the win.

Carman led all scorers with six goals, adding two assists. Psillos added five goals and a game-high four assists, while Pheterson chipped in with four goals and one assist.

Ashley Devins stopped eight shots for Manhattan, who held a 47-21 edge in shots, and a 45-38 advantage in ground balls.

The Lady Jaspers get back in action on Saturday, April 15, traveling to Columbia University for a 10:30 a.m. start.
