Riverdale, N.Y. (April 11, 2006) - The Lady Jaspers came back after two tough conference losses to Iona yesterday, with a bang today at Gaelic Park. In the first game, junior center fielder Stefanie Gozdziewski went three for three with a double to lead the Lady Jaspers against the Lions. Freshman Danielle Just had two hits and five RBI's, including her first career home run, which was a base clearing grand slam. Junior Liz Pennino came in the fifth to close the door and the Lady Jaspers got their eighth run in the sixth assuring the victory.

In the nightcap, Fox lead the offense belting two hits with two RBI's. Manhattan's first run came in the bottom of the second when junior Candice Sheridan hit a hard ball up the middle that the shortstop bobbled. Freshman Lyndzie Phillips had a pair hits and scored on Sheridan's groundball. In the bottom of the seventh down 2-1, Gozdziewski ripped a single to center field. With two outs and the game on the line, Fox stepped up to the plate and smashed a two run walk off home run to win the game 3-2. Pennino was the starting pitcher and went five innings, scattering 3 hits and letting up one earned run. Junior Kristin Gelsleichter (4-4) relieved Pennino and only let up one hit in her two innings of work.
