#21/23 MARQUETTE DOWNS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL 89-38

Milwaukee, Wis. (December 21, 2006)?#21/23 Marquette extended its win streak to ten straight games with an 89-38 victory over Manhattan at the Al McGuire Center Thursday night. Marquette's senior forward Danielle Kamm led all scorers with a career high 26 points, and was one of three Golden Eagles to score in double figures. Marquette's record improves to 11-1 while Manhattan drops to 4-7 overall.

 

Kamm had an impressive night shooting for the home side, going 10-15 from the field and six for ten from behind the arc.

 

The Golden Eagles took a 46-18 lead into halftime on the strength of 15 points from Kamm and 55 percent shooting overall in the opening stanza. Throughout the game, Marquette was able to use its size as an advantage, outscoring the Lady Jaspers 39-10 in the paint.

 

For Manhattan, freshman point guard Michelle Pacheco scored nine points on three of seven shooting; one of which was from long distance, the other two field goals coming on strong drives to the hoop. Junior forward Gabrielle Cottrell was the lone Lady Jasper to score in double figures with 10 points.

 

Manhattan concludes its five game road trip Saturday against another Big East opponent, Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pa. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
