Burlington, VT (December 17, 2006)?Three Lady Jaspers scored in double figures, including a career high 19 from Aubrie Dellinger, but it was not enough to pull out a victory over Vermont on Sunday afternoon. Manhattan's record drops to 4-6, while Vermont has won seven of eight games, improving their record to 7-2.

With 1:30 remaining, Vermont's Sy Janousek hit a three pointer from the corner to give the Catamounts a 70-60 lead. Manhattan fought back, getting to within five on a Dellinger three-pointer and a Caitlin Flood lay-up, but that would be as close as the Lady Jaspers could get the rest of the game.

Manhattan trailed by as much as 12 points in the game, but clawed to within 54-53 on a Jenna Franciosa three-pointer with just over seven minutes remaining. However, Vermont went on a 13-7 run over the game's next six minutes to keep Manhattan from taking the lead.

After trailing 38-28 at halftime, Manhattan came out of the gate strong in the second half, wasting little time in cutting into Vermont's lead. Dellinger knocked down a three to start the half, and scored seven points during a 12-8 Lady Jasper run that got the Green & White to within 46-40. With the score 51-44, Manhattan used the three ball to get even closer. Two Gabrielle Cottrell three-pointers sandwiched a three by Vermont's Courtnay Pilypaitis to make the score 54-40 before Franciosa's three.

The Catamounts came out firing to open the game, knocking down their first three shots, all three pointers, and jumped out to a 9-2 lead. The Lady Jaspers trailed 15-5, but used a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 15-11, the closest Manhattan would get for the rest of the half. The visitors trailed at the break, but the stat sheet indicated they should have been in front. The Lady Jaspers out-rebounded Vermont 21-14 and shot 44 percent from the field, but the Cats' pressure defense forced Manhattan into 19 turnovers which Vermont converted into 16 points.

Caitlin Flood, 16 points, and Gabrielle Cottrell with 10 points were the other Lady Jaspers to score in double figures. Flood also pulled down 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Manhattan shot a season high 46 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Cats by a 49-36 margin.

Manhattan returns to action this Thursday when they travel out to Milwaukee to take on Marquette University. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
