Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (December 10, 1006)?In the second MAAC game for both schools, Marist defeated the Lady Jaspers 70-30. Marist's Rachele Fitz scored a game high 12 points while Kelly Regan led Manhattan with eight points. The Lady Jaspers fall to 4-5 on the season and their MAAC record evens to 1-1. Marist improves to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the MAAC.

Manhattan was shorthanded, playing without regulars Joann Nwafili and Amanda LoCascio, both out with injuries. To compound things, leading scorer Caitlin Flood found herself in foul trouble, which limited her to just 18 minutes.

Marist jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, and led 28-14 at halftime. Aubrie Dellinger scored seven first half points.

The Red Foxes came out shooting in the second half, knocking down 10 of 15 shots, three coming from behind the arc over the first 10 minutes of the half. The hot shooting helped Marist score 25 of the first 32 points to extend their lead to 53-21. For the half, the Red Foxes shot a scorching 57 percent from the field and 55 percent from three.

Marist has now won seven straight games in the series dating back to the 2003-04 season, and have now won five straight games this season.

Manhattan returns to action one week from today when they travel to Burlington, Vermont to take on the Catamounts of the University of Vermont. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
