Newark, N.J. (November 8, 2006)?With 24 digs in the match, junior Ashley Watson got plenty more than the four she needed to set a new Manhattan Volleyball single season record, but the accomplishment was bittersweet for Watson and the Lady Jaspers as they fell in three games to the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Wednesday night.

Watson, who surpassed the 1,000-dig mark her last time out against Loyola, continued her defensive tear of late as she averaged 8.00 digs per game against NJIT. Unfortunately for Watson and the Lady Jaspers, however, NJIT out hit Manhattan by nearly 140 percentage points.

Lady Jasper senior Whitney Judkins led her team with 11 kills, but her performance was overshadowed by the Highlanders' Kristy Haeckel and Agnieszka Pregowska who recorded 14 and 12 kills, respectively. Pregowska was extremely efficient, finishing with a .423 hitting percentage.

Manhattan also gave away some points in the service game by notching only six aces compared to 12 service miscues.

The Lady Jaspers, who currently sit at fourth out of ten teams in the MAAC standings, wrap up regular season play this weekend with matches at Saint Peter's College and Marist College.
