Bronx, N.Y. (November 29, 2006)?Fordham's senior guard Lisa Carrol scored a game high 26 points, 17 in the second half as the Rams held on for a 63-54 victory Wednesday night at Fordham's Rose Hill Gymnasium. The loss snaps the Lady Jaspers' two game win streak. Kelly Regan and Caitlin Flood, with 12 points each, led the way for Manhattan, who drop to 3-3 on the young season.

With the Rams leading 48-43 with just over four and a half minutes to play, Carrol knocked down her fifth three-pointer of the game to provide Fordham with much needed breathing room. On Fordham's next possession, LaToya Chalmers converted a lay-up to give the Rams a 10 point lead at 53-43, too much for Manhattan to overcome in the game's latter stages.

Manhattan trailed for all but the game's opening minutes, but a jumper by Annie McIntyre tied the game at 36-36 after a seesaw beginning to the second half. That was the closest Manhattan got to taking command since taking a 9-7 lead early in the first half . Over the next three minutes, Fordham built a five point lead at 44-39. Joann Nwafili scored the game's next four points to cut Fordham's lead to 44-43, but that would be Manhattan's last points for over six minutes as Fordham built its lead to 53-43.

After both teams traded baskets back and forth for the early part of the game, Fordham went on a 14-3 run to take a big first half lead. With the Rams leading 12-11 at the 12:04 mark, a basket by Carrol sent the Rams off a 14-3 run over the next three minutes of the half, with Carrol knocking down two three-pointer during the run. A lay-up by Fordham's Beth Troutt gave the Rams their biggest lead of the game, a 13 point, 29-16 margin. However Carrol's basket would be Fordham's final points of the half, as the Lady Jaspers ripped off a 10-0 run to cut Fordham's lead to three. Flood scored six points during the run. Despite allowing the Rams to shoot 50 percent from the field, Manhattan only trailed 29-26 thanks to the big run.

Nwafili led the Lady Jaspers with 8 rebounds while chipping eight points herself. Aubrie Dellinger scored eight as well, knocking down two three pointers.

The loss snaps Manhattan's two game win streak against Fordham, however the Lady Jaspers still hold a 21-17 edge in the all-time series record.

Manhattan returns to action this Saturday when Quinnipiac University comes into Draddy Gym. The game will be Manhattan's final tune-up before conference play begins on December 8th, as well as the Lady Jaspers' final home game of the month. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
