NEW YORK GAZELLES TOP WOMEN'S BASKETBALL 72-67 IN EXHIBITION

Riverdale, N.Y. - The women's basketball team fell to the New York Gazelles 72-67 in an exhibition contest played at Draddy Gym on Wednesday night. Junior forward Caitlin Flood paced Manhattan with a game high 23 points, 17 coming in the second half, on eight of 11 shooting. Flood also pulled down nine boards, falling just short of a double-double.

Flood was among three Lady Jaspers to score in double figures, junior guards Joann Nwafili and Aubrie Dellinger had 12 and 14 points respectively.

Sophomore center Kelly Regan also had an effective game, scoring nine points and grabbing nine rebounds.

Despite the strong efforts, Manhattan struggled from the field, shooting just 36.7 percent and four of 17 from behind the arc.

The Lady Jaspers kick-off their season officially on November 10, when they welcome Big East member Providence College to Riverdale. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
