MEDEA HURLS 5-0 SHUTOUT IN SOFTBALL SEASON OPENER

Washington, DC (March 5, 2005)- In the Lady Jaspers' season opener junior Jillian Medea posted a two-hit complete game shutout as Manhattan defeated Army, 5-0, in the first game of the GW Colonial Challenge.

Kiera Fox and Jennifer McCracken each went 3-3 with a double and an RBI to pace the Manhattan attack. Michelle Gutierrez went 2-3 with an RBI and Tina Buyea went 1-3 with an RBI.

Medea (1-0) added 10 strikeouts in tallying the fifth shutout of her career.

Manhattan plays again today at 2:15 against Colgate.
