Loudonville, NY (April 17, 2004)- The Lady Jaspers lost a, 18-16, overtime decision to the Siena Saints today in Loudonville, NY. Molly Pheterson led the team in scoring finishing five goals. With the loss the Jaspers drop to an 8-5 overall record and 3-1 MAAC record. The Saints improve 4-10 overall and 2-1 in the MAAC.

Manhattan opened up the scoring with just under six minutes of the first half after a free position goal by Pheterson. Siena then went on to score three goals taking a 3-1 lead. With seven minutes left to play in the first half and the score 5-3, Pheterson scored decreasing the Saints lead to only one goal. Siena's Michelle Eide scored off a pass from Tammy Vitolins giving the Saints a two goal lead again with 3:43 left to play in the half. Manhattan's Catherine Dunbar, with 1:25 left to play in the first half scored an unassisted goal to bring the half to an end with the score 6-5, Siena.

In the second half, Lauren Civardi tied the game for Manhattan with just 41 seconds off the clock. Before long Manhattan took a 9-7 lead after going on a three goal scoring streak. Civardi scoring two of those goals and Dunbar scoring the other. With just over 12 minutes to play and Manhattan up by four goals Siena went on a scoring rampage scoring five goals tying the game, 15-15, to bring the game into overtime.

Pheterson scored the loan goal in the first overtime giving the Lady J's a 16-15 lead. However, in the second half Manhattan could not stop Siena from scoring the three goals needed to take the win.

Ashley Devins finished the game with 13 saves and Siena's Mary Dupelle finished with nine.

The Lady Jaspers play tomorrow Sunday, April 18 against Marist at 1 pm in Poughkeepsie, NY.
