Riverdale, NY (August 29, 2003)- The Manhattan College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision against St. Bonaventure today at Gaelic Park in the season opener for both teams.
The Bonnies outshot the Lady Jaspers eight to four and scored the games only goal at the 42:25 mark, when Katie Fredlund (Rochester, NY) took a long lead pass from Alyssa Castronova (Waterford, CT) and beat Manhattan goalie
Jeanne Marie Gilbert (East Northport, NY) to the left corner.
The Lady Jaspers pressured the Bonnies net in the second half outshooting St. Bonaventure 10-1 but could not find the back of the net. Courtney Nelson (Madison, CT) stopped five Jasper shots for the shutout while Gilbert stopped four shots.
The Lady Jaspers will be back in action on Tuesday, September 2nd when they travel to West Point, NY where they will play the Army Black Knights at 5:00PM.
